Czech Dreams 2024
Czech Dreams in Lviv: Week of Czech-Ukrainian Partnership
From September 17 to 22, we are not just celebrating Czech music—we are coming to Lviv to spark new collaborations, deepen our bonds, and show our unwavering support for the Ukrainian people. Through the universal language of art and music, let's dream together!
This initiative, originally conceived as part of the Year of Czech Music 2024, has evolved into an extraordinary cultural exchange. This week will not only be about music but will also foster dialogue on education, healthcare, sustainability, and networking. Our aim is to create new opportunities for partnership and solidarity between the Czech Republic and Ukraine, demonstrating that music is a powerful unifying force, especially in challenging times.
Lviv, with its rich history and cultural depth, shares a special connection with Brno. Both cities are members of the prestigious UNESCO Creative Cities Network. This project ‘Czech Dreams in Lviv’ is supported by the Czech Ministry of Culture, the South Moravian Region, and the City of Brno, along with countless dedicated Czech and Ukrainian individuals and institutions.
Throughout the week, Lviv will host a variety of cultural events at its iconic venues, featuring concerts by Czech and Ukrainian artists, exhibitions, film screenings, and discussions. We are thrilled to introduce two remarkably talented pianists, Ivo Kahánek and Alexandr Klement, who will also perform Smetana's compositions. Aleš Březina, the dramaturg of the Czech Dreams project, will be joining us to lend his support and insight, further enriching this collaboration.
This isn’t just another music festival— the Week of Czech-Ukrainian Partnership represents our commitment to using the beauty and power of art and music to uplift, inspire, and support Lviv during these difficult times. It’s a celebration of the enduring connections between our countries and a testament to the role that culture plays in fostering hope and resilience.
Join us as we stand together, united by art, music, and our shared vision for a brighter future.
