Czech Dreams 2024
Visit to Poznań
Czech Dreams visited Poznań, one of the most beautiful Polish cities, famous for its magnificent Renaissance town hall, colourful Baroque houses on the Market Square and St. Martin's rolls "rogale świętomarcińskie", which even boast a UNESCO protected designation. Czech Dreams, however, head to the local library!
For 58 years, the partnership between Brno and Poznań has been deepening. Thanks to the cooperation between the Jiří Mahen Library in Brno and the Raczyński Library in Poznań, the Days of Czech Culture in Poznań took place from 14 to 16 October at the library. The programme was full of Czech culture, with concerts, exhibitions, workshops and lectures. The event is the counterpart of the traditional April Days of Polish Culture festival in Brno. The Polish audience enjoyed a concert of songs by Jiří Suchý and Jiří Šlitr from the repertoire of the Dondi Theatre, a performance by Mateusz and Maciej Rychły "Łużycki traktem" and a lecture by Petr Svoboda on Brno's interwar architecture. Czech Dreams joined in with an interactive lecture on Leoš Janáček, which ideally complemented Jakub Sládek's piano concert including Janáček's famous compositions.
We would like to thank the Jiří Mahen Library in Brno for the invitation and TIC Brno for the support. The Days of Czech Culture in Poznan were held under the auspices of the Czech Ambassador to Poland, Břetislav Dančák.
